 UPDATE TO THE Property Tax Home Affidavit Law (March 7, 2012)

  Jobs bill HB2001 had a requirement for homeowners to sign and return an affidavit stating that the homeowner was occupying their house (as opposed to renting it out), in order to get a credit up to $600. The affidavit form was supposed to be included in your Property Notice Of Evaluation notice, to be signed and sent back, in order to continue getting the tax credit.

   However, the county assessors office did not send it out because “The cost of doing it would have been considerable”. And lawmakers have signaled they intend to repeal the requirement because it was burdensome . . .  . So for now, the affidavit is not required.

 Mortgage Refinance Relief For Underwater Homeowners March 7, 2012)

 Some relief is on the horizon for underwater homeowners who have an FHA loan that was originated before June of 2009. The benefit is to refinance the loan to a lower monthly mortgage payment with a lower interest rate.  It won't matter that your home is underwater, an appraisal is not required. What makes this new program better than a standard FHA Streamline Refinance is that the upfront mortgage insurance premium and the monthly premium are greatly reduced. Resulting in true savings.
